Ajaib Group announced acquiring securities broker PT Primasia Unggul Sekuritas on May 26, which will expand Primasia Sekuritas’ business to online stock trading, and supports Ajaib Group in providing an affordable, safe, and trusted investment solution for investors.

Following this acquisition, the 30-year old Primasia Sekuritas will be rebranded as Ajaib Sekuritas, its management and staff, investors, and activities unchanged. Investors at Ajaib Sekuritas will be able to apply for customer fund accounts (RDN), and buy and redeem funds online, without having to fill in any forms according to the current physical distancing policy.

Ajaib Sekuritas will be the second entity under Ajaib Group, next to the mobile investment platform PT Takjub Teknologi (Ajaib Reksa Dana). Ajaib Reksa Dana was launched in 2019, aiming to democratize investment and improve financial inclusion. It secured a $2.1 million funding co-led by SoftBank Ventures with Alpha JWC Ventures, Insignia Ventures, and Y Combinator. Throughout 2019, Ajaib Reksa Dana contributed 25% of all new investors in Indonesia, most of them coming from the millennial age group.

“The COVID-19 pandemic doesn’t prevent us from increasing Indonesia’s financial inclusion through investment. Instead, this is the right time to review investor’s portfolio and refocus on their investment objectives,” cofounder and CEO of Ajaib Group, Anderson Sumarli said in a statement.

He added that the investment platform has seen more first-time investors signing up every day. Many investors see a correction in the current stock market as an opportunity to invest, and to help their economy to bounce back post-COVID pandemic.
